The e-max electric scooter is a German designed scooter with a 1500w electric motor powered by 8 x 12 volt silicone batteries. It is fully road-registrable throughout Australia and falls in the "under 50cc moped" vehicle category, making it legal to ride for anyone holding a normal Australian car driver's licence.
The Australian delivered scooter is the enhanced "e-max sport" model, which is improved over the entry level version sold in other countries. This "sport" model features an enhanced "power" button that temporarily boosts the electric motor power output from 1500w to 2200w for a couple of minutes. This makes it possible to get a quicker start at traffic lights and helps with steeper hills while preserving much of the energy efficiency and extra mileage made possible with the standard 1500w cruising mode.
Unlike conventional petrol scooters, there is no servicing required (other than routine brake/tire checks) as there are no moving parts other than the wheel-hub mounted direct drive electric motor. This motor is a fully brushless design which is fully enclosed and requires no servicing. This means there is no filling up at petrol stations, no oil changes, no filter changes and no servicing bills. All you need to do is recharge the batteries (by plugging the scooter into a spare wall socket for a few hours) and you have yourself years of cheap, hassle-free and environmentally friendly transport!
