Emax scooters renamed to Ecel

The first-generation "Emax" electric scooters have been renamed to "Ecel" to make way for new models based on a whole new design. This appears to be a result of the new Emax scooters being manufactured in a different facility to the Ecel scooters.

Changes are as follows:

  • "Emax Sport" becomes "Ecel Sport"
  • "Emax Classic" becomes "Ecel Classic"
  • "Emax Comfort" becomes "Ecel Comfort"

It is unclear what effect this has on the existing already-released scooter which was registered as "Emax Sport" in Australia. My guess is that the existing stock of Emax Sports will continue to be sold under the existing Emax name due to road registration and licensing requirements, and the most likely be discontinued once the new models become available.
