A couple of readers have asked me about my after-sales experience with my e-max scooter, due to the difficulties some people have had in other countries. As I suffer from the annoying habit of having to research extensively on the net before I buy something, I too had the same concerns before buying my scooter. So I questioned the guys at EMC about these issues to get the full story.

Riding an electric scooter has several benefits, including zero emissions, near silent operation and low running costs. While these facts are readily claimed, I decided to work out exactly how low the emax scooter running costs really are!

The guys over at EMC Australia kindly offered to upgrade the rear suspension on my e-max scooter with some gas-lift shocks.

A week back at work again and the kilometers (and charges) are starting to clock up. I'm hoping over time to get a feel for exactly what kind of distance can be expected once the battery has been in use for a while. Since the last update, there have been four more charge-ups:

Today is the first day back in the office today after the Christmas/New Year break, which also means the start of regular scooter commutes. Being away for the festive period, I have not really had much of a chance to ride the e-max. Even tonight the odometer still reads only 135.2 kms.

On Saturday I decided to take it for a fairly long ride to see how it would go over a larger distance.

After two days waiting impatiently for the department of licensing to open, Monday is finally here at last. At 2pm I get the phone call from Scootamoto to say that my new scooter is licensed and ready to go!

After a satisfactory [link:emax test ride|test ride] of the [link:emax scooter|emax scooter], I decided it was definitely worth "going electric" as soon as I could. As fate would happen, a buyer appeared for my old car during the week so I finally had the cash to make the switch!

The e-max scooter is imported and distributed within Australia by EMC Electric Motor Company. It turns out that, not only are they located in Perth, but their head office is only just down the road from where I work! So today I decided to go pay them a visit and see if I can have a look at one of their scooters.
